Chuao is a cacao-growing village founded in 1660 on the Aragua coast, inside Henri Pittier National Park — cacao cultivation at the site dates back to 1591. Its criollo cacao beans, granted the "Cacao de Chuao" appellation of origin in 2000, are among the most sought-after in the world. The village is only accessible by boat from Choroní, about 4 km from the coast; MINTUR officially recognizes a tourist route to Chuao, but no boat schedule or fare could be confirmed from an official source — check directly before planning a visit.
