After the June 24, 2026 earthquakes, two official sources five days apart describe different states: on July 11, 2026, INPARQUES/MPPE reported "Sabas Nieves 1" open under supervision and "Sabas Nieves 2" closed due to cracks and landslides; on July 16, 2026, Minister Nelson Rodríguez (MPPE) stated that the Sabas Nieves trail is the only one currently fit and authorized, with access limited to the ranger checkpoint. Both are shown to reflect how the situation evolved, not as an unresolved disagreement.
