The cable car links the Maripérez station, in Caracas, with the upper slopes of Ávila; its top station sits next to Hotel Humboldt. It has run since the mid-1950s, built under the government of Marcos Pérez Jiménez; the original network closed in the late 1970s and was rebuilt in stages over the following decades. Today it is operated by VENTEL (Venezolana de Teleféricos). Its operating status after the June 24, 2026 earthquakes has not been confirmed by any official source — neither VENTEL nor the official statements about park access restrictions, which focus on trails and roads, mention the cable car. Hours and fares are likewise unconfirmed by an official source. Confirm directly before planning a visit.
